The significance of an evangelist such as H.L. Richard is that he admires those who feel called to serve with the Gospel. He understands the Hindu world, not only in its philosophical traditions but also in its current practical expressions. In this work, H.L. Richard guards us against unfair judgmentalism and ignorant generalizations of this complex society. He provides a “traveler’s guide” before we presume to enter the Hindu world.

This book by H.L. Richard is a wonderful and useful handbook for those who want to be positive witnesses for Hindus. It is simple and profound. It helps us to understand and respect Hindus, and also gives us guidelines for what not to do and what to do with our Hindu neighbors.

It is through H.L. Richard more than any other single person that I have come to realize how little I actually know about the Hindu people I have claimed to love, and among whom I have lived most of my life. In the fifteen years that I have been his friend, he has gently revealed to me the complexities of Hindu civilization, and caused me to love and respect Hindus with a greater humility. Through his influence I have been freed to live among them with an honesty and openness I had not known before, and has brough me closer to them, and closer to my Lord and Sadguru, Jesus Christ.
